12-day itinerary through Portugal and Spain

Day 1- Lagos

Once you have your car, start your 12-day unforgettable itinerary in the city of Lagos. The beautiful coastal landscapes and beaches deserve your time. A dip in Praia da Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo are not to be missed.  For a snack, the Mercado Municipal de Lagos is an excellent choice for those who want to get closer to the local flavors. Enjoy the rest of the day at Praia dos Estudantes or Praia do Pinhão. After the beach, head to your accommodation for a night's rest - our suggestions are the Tivoli Lagos Hotel or the Villas D. Dinis. The next day, set off for Portimão.

Day 2 - Portimão

In Portimão, whichever beach you choose, we're sure you'll be well catered for. The same goes for the car you choose at Guerin. For a full day out, start at Praia do Vau, pass by Praia dos Três Irmãos and finish at the famous Praia da Rocha. Your visit to Portimão only ends after you've enjoyed a good plate of fish or seafood and stayed overnight at the Jupiter Marina Hotel.

Day 3 - Albufeira and Faro

The third day of the tour of Portugal and Spain begins with a 30-minute drive to Albufeira. After visiting the popular Praia dos Pescadores, enjoy the city and its unique beauty.  In the afternoon, hit the road with Guerin to the capital of the Algarve. Faro has an incredible historic center and even better restaurants, such as Petiscaria Decanter. A perfect plan for the end of the day.

Day 4 - Tavira

Heading to Tavira, you can enjoy a full day there. Between Praia da Terra Estreita, Praia do Barril and Praia de Tavira, there's plenty to explore. If you want to take a break from diving, wander the streets of Tavira with Guerin. Tavira Castle and Praça da República are our favorite suggestions. On the fifth day of your itinerary, wake up in Spain and drive two hours to Seville.

Day 5 - Seville

Get up early in Seville to explore every corner of the city. In the morning, check out the Real Alcázar complex, the Plaza de España and La Giralda tower. Pause for some delicious tapas and resume your visit. Continue on to Seville Cathedral and María Luísa Park. Your well-deserved rest is already beckoning, so our suggestion is that you stay at the Exe Sevilla Palmera.

Day 6 - Cádiz

In just over half an hour, you'll be in the beautiful city of Cádiz for the sixth day of your tour of Portugal and Spain. Take the opportunity to visit Plaza San Juan de Dios, passing through Alameda Apodaca Park and La Caleta Beach, always in the best company, Guerin of course. We believe that with a full belly the energy is different, so stop by the Asador Puntaparrilla and enjoy. Then decide whether to stay here or continue on your way.

Day 7 - Gibraltar

It takes around 1h20 from Cádiz to Gibraltar. Once there, the landscapes couldn't be more surprising. Visit Saint Michael's Cave and stroll through the Great Siege tunnels. Stay in town to experience the nightlife in the English-style pubs. Once you've enjoyed it, head back to your accommodation. Sunborn Gibraltar could be a good option for you.

After a 1.5-hour drive, you'll reach the eleventh destination on your itinerary. There, visit the Alcazaba fortress, Gibalfaro Castle and the Teatro de Roma. Get to know the city on a walking tour of the downtown streets. Take the opportunity to stop and recharge your batteries with some delicious tapas at the Picasso Bar Tapas. In the afternoon, soak up the sun at La Malagueta Beach.

Day 11 - Granada

The second-to-last day is dedicated to the incredible city of Granada. One of the must-sees is the Alhambra, a beautiful complex of buildings and gardens. As well as this most famous tourist attraction, you won't regret visiting the Albaicín Arab Quarter. Here, the suggestion is to get to know the area without a route and get lost in the streets with Guerin. Before you leave, indulge in the typical flavors of Granada at the Chikito Restaurant.
