Christmas villages from north to south: 7 must-sees

1. Braga Christmas Market

This year, the stars of Braga's Christmas market are different. It's the local artisans, artists, booksellers and producers who will shine. Praça Conde Agrolongo is getting ready for the brightest time of the year. The Christmas decorations fill the eyes of the youngest and the smell of food in the air whets the taste buds of the older ones. Everything is waiting for you.

2. Porto Christmas Market

We start in the north of Portugal, Porto. A regular presence on Avenida das Tílias, in the Crystal Palace Gardens, the Porto Christmas Market will fill the city with magic. It's the perfect time to taste the region's typical food. But don't stop at the Christmas market. Porto dresses up to welcome the Christmas season.

3. Perlim

Quinta do Castelo once again lights up with the magic of Christmas. Ice rink, circus, crafts, food and drink and daily shows. These are the plans for this year's Perlim Christmas market in Santa Maria da Feira. Come and experience the joy of Christmas in a place where all dreams are allowed.

4. Óbidos Christmas Village

The Christmas spirit is once again in the air at Óbidos Castle with the Christmas Village. And as every year, Santa's show, the ice rinks and the trampolines are promising. Kids and adults alike can lose themselves in the magic of one of the country's most renowned villages. There are plenty of reasons to visit this enchanted place.

5. Wonderland Lisboa

Back in the Portuguese capital is the famous Wonderland. At night, Eduardo VII Park takes on a new life. It is filled with decorations and lights where red, white and gold stand out. A plan for the whole family where, after the entertainment, you'll find sweets such as pastéis de nata, popcorn, cotton candy and churros waiting for you.

6. Monchique Christmas

In Monchique, the streets will be dressed in Christmas colors. Music will fill every corner of the town. The little ones will be entertained by children's entertainment and the carousel, while the grown-ups will be doing their last-minute shopping at the Christmas market. Workshops throughout December will show you more about Monchique. The magic starts here.

7. Funchal Christmas Market

To round off the list of Christmas villages, there is one that ranks among the best in Europe: the Funchal Christmas market. A traditional market, which can be visited until January 8, 2024, and which extends to the central sidewalks of Avenida Arriaga, in the heart of the city. It has 20 little houses, each of which offers a taste of Madeira's traditional flavors.
